The 19 Ekiti state lawmakers loyal to the All Progressive Congress, APC, have written to the governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, the chairman, body of Attorneys-General, Honourable Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, among others denouncing the confirmation of commissioners, Special advisers, others by the seven members of the House loyal to the People Democratic Party, PDP.
In the letter, they noted that the purported confirmation of the nominees by the seven lawmakers do not follow due process and is thus null and void.
They alleged that the confirmation violated section 96 (1) and section 192 (2) of the constitution of Nigeria, stressing that the House does not recognise the ‘confirmed’ appointees and anybody or institutions that deal with them as government’s officials do so at their own risk.
The letter was signed by all the 19 members of the APC lawmaker in Ekiti state. The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Accountant-Genral of the Federation, Director, Genral Securities and Exchange Commission, Director-Genral, Debt Management, all banks in Ekiti state among others were copied.
