Funke Akindele – My Pain, My Gain….

We wouldn’t have had cause to write any personality praise story if not that fans have continually pointed to the fact that Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, is indeed a strong woman who doesn’t allow negative circumstances weigh her down.

So, we decided to do something on it since fans adore so much and are wondering what makes her tick.

Let’s start by tracing the days of her very humble beginning into acting with the youth educative TV drama series, I Need To Know.

If you followed the series very well, you’d noticed she was the star actress among them. Not because she played the leading role per say, but her intelligent and funny acting prowess just couldn’t go by without you noticing it. Her character brought the whole essence of the drama to limelight. So, that’s why we said she played the lead role.

From there, she moved into the larger picture, making entrance into Yoruba movie scene and once-in-a-while acts in English speaking ones. Then came her big break, Jeniffer 1 & 2, plus the Return Of Jennifer.

Of course she did other interesting movies too but, Jeniffer has always been her very best till today. Why? Because the movie sold her out and she soon became a household name.

Everyone loved her and were soon asking when she’d tied the knot, and she did tie the knot with Kehinde Oloyede. But the marriage ended almost as soon as it started. Her husband was the first to break the news on Facebook and the media got hold of it. Meanwhile Funke was far away on set. When the news got to her, she denied it until the center could no longer hold then, she came clear with the truth.

According to her, she found out that he lied to her about so many things including his educational level, past affairs with women, how many kids he has both in and out of wedlock, she also cited domestic violence which made her lose her few months pregnancy, and the fact that Oloyede wanted her to give up her career of which she wasn’t ready to do that, and loads of other reasons.

But whilst we all thought the news and spread of her sudden marriage collapse would have broken her and kept her indoors and her career grounded for a while, the opposite was the case with Funke as she was still up and about her normal business, always smiling and looking encouraged wherever and whenever you met her.

“That’s the spirit! I like her for always being happy and you wouldn’t know she just got out of a messy marriage”, a fan once said to our amazement.

Why should anyone get dragged down by negative situations anyway? Although we know people react to situations differently but, if everyone took on her kind of spirit, life would be greater and we wouldn’t hear or see anybody committing suicide.

Don’t quote us wrong here. We didn’t say or are in support of divorce or negative situations but, no one prays for them whenever they come knocking. Atleast, you could be rest assured she didn’t know things would turn out that way either. On her part, she loved Oloyede and went into the relationship with the whole of her heart but things didn’t work out, although the man also cited non-submissiveness and impatience on her part. And in the end, fans blamed her for jumping into the hands of a man she hardly knew in the first place.

So back to the basis. Why would anyone let negative circumstance keep him down?

The essence of this write up, or what we intend to make us learn from the life of Funke Akindele, is her positive attitude towards life and achieving her goals any day, any time.

Isn’t she an encouragement to us all?
