Alstom partners Nigeria in infrastructural development

Alstom, an international company that deals in rail transportation, power and grid has reaffirmed its resolve to be an active and concrete strategic partner for infrastructure development in Nigeria.
This was stated by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Alstom, Mr. Patrick Kron, on his recent visit to President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso rock Villa. The Alstom chief equally met top Nigerian business leaders and members of the international business community in Lagos.
Also during his visit, Kron signed a technical cooperation agreement with Taleveras Group of Companies Limited. The agreement is for supplies and services for the rehabilitation and capacity expansion of the Afam power station.
This cooperation is in line with the federal government’s initiatives to drastically improve power supply in the shortest possible time in the country.
According to the company, “This visit affirms the Alstom Group’s objective to be an active and concrete strategic partner for infrastructure development in Nigeria and will reinforce the Group’s presence in the country”.
Kron confirmed Alstom’s intention to support the development of local manpower for the progressive growth of the power sector through a plan to establish a professional power training centre in the country.
Alstom is currently participating in the government training programme for Niger Delta Youths and has proposed to train some 100 Niger Delta youths on its sites in France in electrical grid and rail transport business activities.
